A fictional short story. A man is reading on his garden porch when he sees something that will cause him to spill his tea.
During COVID-19 lockdown in South Africa, I decided to stay at my parent's house because there is a garden. I was on the front stoep sipping tea and reading The Old Man and The Sea by Ernest Hemingway. I saw something in the empty plot over the road that got my mind buzzing and this story formed in my head. I finished Hemingway and went inside and started writing this story.
Started around May 2020, this version finished May 2021.
