A short story based on a true experience.

Back in 2017, I went camping alone in the Tankwa Karoo desert for the first time. I did not see a single person for close to a week. It was just me and the desert; the jackals, the porcupines and the old stone ruins. That was my first true isolated experience in the wild and I have been hooked ever since.

I went exploring and I came across an old farmhouse ruin called Biesiesfontein. A strange feeling came over me as soon as I saw the old house. Then there was a moment that left me astounded and it's a memory I will never forget.

Since then, I have told this story many times. One day I decided, hey, why not write it down. So here it is. Let me know what you think via Instagram or the Contact page.

Written four years later while camping alone in the Tankwa Karoo desert in 2021.
